Description

This is a highly inclined spiral galaxy (type SA (s)b) with a large, elongated central region and grainy, tightly  wound spiral arms and complex dust lanes entwined with the multi arm pattern. Angular Diameter 6.3'x3.6'. Distance: 36 million ly. Diameter: 46000 ly. Discovered by William herschel on 14 january 1788.
